Reception
Following the Home Coming
Parade by the RAF Police, the Branch and Branch
club hosted a reception for
veterans and families.
Approximately 70 people attended including several
of our own members, and it was great to see
a mix of
young and old, veteran and serving personnel.
A
great buffet was produced by Martyn and his
staff and much praise goes to the
whole team for making
it
such a success, reflected in the number of
e-mails received singing the Branch & Branch
club praises.
Tanya also took the trouble to entertain
one and all for several hours with a bit
of a knees up
at the end.
Many of our own members just do not know
what they are missing, as a great time
was had by all.
The
day was rounded off with a visit to the museum
by many who could make
the stairs,
with the usual
gasps of surprise as to how good it is.
The
Branch Chairman Lez Fishman, wishes to extend
his personal thanks to
everyone involved
for all
their
had work and ambassadorial skill
in entertaining our guests. |

Change of Steward With
effect from May the 1st, if you are not aware,
Martyn Hudson, your Branch
Club Chairman has
taken over the running of the club following
the resignation of Miss Leanne Willis.
We wish Leanne all the very best in her new job.
We also wish Martyn all the very best and hope
that
you will continue to support him in running
the club as
you have as chairman.
The Branch Club has come
a long way under Martyn's guidance and has a real
future
ahead of it but still need maximum support from
all sections of the Branch and Branch Club.

St George's day Lunch.
Regulars gathered as always for the St George's
day lunch on the 24th of April, and what a great
one it was too. Our thanks to all members involved
in preparing and serving a choice of chicken or
beef, and who's time was given freely. Music was
supplied by Keith, and Tanya did a magnificent
job of organising not only a raffle but an Easter
Bonnet parade, a pool tournament, and guess the
weight of the Simnel cake. A Simnel cake being
the traditional Easter cake depicting the 11 true
Apostles, and surprisingly weighing in at over
9 pounds, and guessing it right was Greame our
very own President.

Royal Wedding Day
The Branch Club opened all hour to cater for those
who wanted initial to escape the Royal Wedding
followed by those who joined the celebrations on
the 29th of April. Yes there are still many royalists
ready to celebrate, and celebrate they did, with
a bring your own hamper. Whilst the numbers were
low those who did turn out had a great day, with
celebrations starting at 2 and going on until midnight.
Fashion was the flavour of the day and so was the
booze consumed. As always thanks to all the members
who gave their time to man the pumps throughout
the day, and to all the members who made it one
to remember.

2011 BEER FESTIVAL Bedford
Branch Club held its 4th successful beerfest
this year concentrating on
local ales. The organisors
would like to send a special thank you to all
who helped sponsor the festival or helped in
any way.
The
toughest job, that of quality control, being
carried out by the branch Chairman Lez Fishman,
it was
a tough
call but someone had to do it. All but a few
gallons were drunk and besides having a reat
week it helped
to
swell the coffers of club funds.
Tanya provided
music during the lunch time session and was
followed in the
evening by the kaylee band.

Club
AGM 2011 On
Sunday the Branch Club held its annual AGM
in the Cardington Lounge, instead of the usual
Wednesday evening.
Whilst the turnout was improved the numbers were
still disappointing, considering cheap beer
was on offer
during the beerfest.
The Chairman Martyn Hudson gave much thanks to
all committee members and staff, plus members
who supported the club throughout the year. The
years
trading was on a par with 2009 which is most
encouraging even with further investment within.
With continued new ideas on events and a solid
membership plus the expansion of the museum the
branch club appears to have something to look
forward
to after several years in the doldrums.
A full report is shortly to be posted on the
branch club notice board, along with minutes.

McAleese Talk On
Monday the 14th of March, Peter McAleese author
of "No Mean Soldier" gave a talk
in the branch club
about his life as a professional soldier of
some renown.
Everyone listened intently to every word Peter
spoke and whilst the subject was serious there
was plenty of
humour to be had.
Peter was involved in many wars is many countries
and was lucky enough to survive to tell the tale.
Our thanks to the club chairman Martyn for organising
the event, so following on from the success it
is hope to continue with further speakers each month.

Royal
British Legion Social The
Bedford Branch club and Bedford Branch of the
Royal British Legion, organised a great little
joint social,
with everyone have a really great time, singing
and dancing to a Kaylee band from the Wellie. Brains
were
also taxed to the limit by a mini quiz organised
by the RBL. A great night and a must to repeat
in the near
future. Our
thanks to the bar staff and organisers goes
without saying.
